A (very) short bio
I graduated from University of Bucharest (MSc 1991). Between 1993-1994 I took the Part III of the Math Tripos in Department of Applied Maths and Theoretical Physics (DAMTP), Cambridge. After a PhD in quantum gravity (Cambridge 1999), I moved to the newly born field of quantum information. My first postdoc was in Cambridge Engineering Department where I proposed a novel implementation for quantum computing with flying qubits in quantum wires. In 2000 I moved to Paolo Zanardi's group at ISI, Torino. Here I worked on several topics, from solid-state implementations for quantum computing, spintronics and topological gates to topological entanglement in Kitaev model. From Italy I moved to Hewlett-Packard Labs in Bristol. After 3 years, 4 patents and missing the sunny Italy, I landed in Sydney, Australia. Here I proposed (with D. Terno) a quantum version of Wheeler's delayed-choice experiment, just before moving (again) to IQC, Waterloo.
Since January 2013 I am a Senior Researcher in the Department of Theoretical Physics, IFIN-HH.
