In this talk we will present some applications of the Fourier transform on wave functions given in cylindrical coordinates. As initial functions for our procedure we chose single-particle states in spherical and deformed nuclei. For each case we calculate and analize the momentum distributions of nucleons, pointing out the effect of the deformation. Finally, we will study wave functions associated with neutrons released during scission at low energy fission. We propagate the neutron wave packets in time through the bi-dimensional time-dependent Schrodinger equation. We calculate their Fourier transforms at different times and the momentum distributions corresponding to these transforms. The evolution of such distributions in time provides an insight into the separation of the neutron from the fissioning system and asymptotically gives the kinetic energy spectrum of that particular neutron.
